JVC’s Year and Summer Programmes are challenging and rewarding.

Our volunteers act justly in community, struggle over and explore what qualifies as a “simple” life and work for justice in a reflective and thoughtful way.

JVC volunteers are not simply activists. They are not hermits. They are not ascetics, living a lifestyle of abstinence. They are not ‘Holy Joes’ - the title of our JVC magazine is ironic! They are not all extroverts who find community easy. But they are people who try to hold all of these values in balance.
