Volunteer Work

JVC volunteers work for social justice in their placements, but this work is an expression of all of the JVC values. JVC’s volunteer work also builds faith; builds community; teaches alternative ways of living; and encourages solidarity, sustainability and equality.

We work with a variety of partner projects, who value the commitment of JVC volunteers, and enable them to gain valuable skills, experience, and insights into the running of Third Sector organisations, as well as learning about the challenges each project’s clients face in their daily lives.

As a JVC volunteer, you will be are placed with charities, agencies and grassroots organisations that work in Britain’s inner cities with people who are marginalised - either to provide direct help and assistance or to enable people to access their rights and have their voices heard.

When matching volunteers to placements we take into account your skills, interests, qualifications and abilities, as well as the requirements of the placements. You will develop and discover new skills and abilities, and you may find yourself growing in a new direction in a role you didn’t expect.
Because everyone is different, and the work grows and changes, there is no typical JVC placement, but you could be advising an asylum seeker on their rights, teaching English to refugee children, supporting prisoners’ families, visiting isolated elderly people, or chatting to a homeless person over a cup of tea.Recent_Partner_Projects.htmlshapeimage_2_link_0shapeimage_2_link_1
