The Jesuit Volunteer Community provides fully funded opportunities for volunteers aged 18 – 35 from Britain and overseas to work in British inner cities for a year, or for a month during the summer.
JVC volunteers work with people on the margins of UK society - people who are homeless, refugees and asylum seekers, disabled, excluded from education or at risk in other ways.
Volunteers live in community, commit to a simple lifestyle, and participate in a development programme of residential workshops and other events during the year to explore JVC’s four values: social justice, simple lifestyle, spirituality and community.
JVC volunteers do not have to be Roman Catholic, or even Christian, but they must respect Christian beliefs and be willing to explore and share Christian spirituality.
